collected clouds

Have you heard of the Cloudy Collection? It is a set of letterpressed art prints from awesome artists brought together by a gentle theme. This round's gentle theme is "Hovels and Hideaways", so I thought of the most comforting thing I could, which is yarn. Go figure. There are other awesome prints by Bwana Spoons, Elio, Scott C., S. Britt, Vincent Stall and David Huyck, and you get them all for what I think is a very reasonable price. So go check 'em out!

pretty busy, my dudes.

Sorry it's pretty silent up in here. I'm aaaalmost done with my graphic novel (it is for First Second Books, which I don't think I've mentioned), just gotta color this sucker and then I get my life back. I have so many awesome paintings I'm going to do when I'm done! I get excited thinking about those. But for now here is a little painting I did for my buddy Graham's birthday. It's him playing hockey with his best bud Sassy.

And here is a spoiler-free sneaky peek of what my comic looks like. It's not full-color because I don't think I can color 217 pages and live to tell the tale. But I'm trying to make it look good anyway for you guys. Paintings again someday! Promise.

faster!!!

In honor of Coraline's fabulous weekend at the box office, I rustled up another strange drawing from the past. I drew this for the studio massage therapist Loly to use on her massage certificates. Back then the hand was white and bony instead of made out of needles. I'm still not sure which would have been more scary.

shmoraline

...I'm not sure I even drew that. But dudes! Coraline is coming out tomorrow! I spent two and a half years drawing storyboards on the movie and now it's going to be in theaters. I'm so proud of everyone I got to know on this project. Please go see it this weekend, ideally in 3D, because it's beautiful and different and that's exactly the kind of film making we all want to support, right? The kind that keeps me employed? Aw yeah.

No, but really, it's great. Stay for after the end credits.

gnomes for the holidays

Has she drawn something new? No. Can you now buy a print of something she already drew? Yes.

A lovely print of my gnome painting may now be yours, just in time for the holidays, from our friends at Nucleus. Since it is a part of the Totoro Project, some proceeds from the print sales will go to the Totoro Forest Fund. Check it out here, dudes.

July 10th? Seriously? Sorry guys, I literally have not painted anything since then. And I might not paint anything for another while. I will distract you with BOOTY:

Another boyfriend-birthday, another round of slutty card-themed paintings. I believe the word to describe me right now is "rusty". Oh well.

I doubt I'll get much showable drawing done in the next few months because I'm working on a graphic novel. More news on that when I'm allowed, but here's a useless peek:

Back to my hole. I hope you're all devotedly stalking progress on Coraline!

totoro patience

Man, I wish I'd waited a few days to post that gnome painting, because we're allowed to talk about the project now! More specifically, the Totoro Forest Project, for which I made said gnome painting. Check the site out for all kinds of neat infos and sweet pictures. Good times.
